What is FamZee?

FamZee is a solution that helps you take care of your mobile family. It is comprised of an app placed on each of the family member’s mobile device and a website for the parents (aka administrators). The FamZee App provides each user with valuable safety and cost saving tools. The FamZee.com website, allows parents to login and set up a variety of “parental control” alerts, warnings, and rules about their family member’s locations and usage behavior. Our solution allows parents to embrace all the positive aspects of technology and ensure that their mobile family stays safe, in budget and under control. Top

FamZee is an innovative and easy to use solution that ensures your mobile family stays safe, in budget and under control. FamZee addresses parent’s three primary concerns around children and technology. Parents want to ensure the following:

How much does the FamZee solution cost?

There are two options for FamZee:

1 – The Basic level of service is Free.

2 – The Premium service level costs s $0.99/month/per user.

Who can I locate with FamZee?

You can locate all family members with our app as long as they are connected to the same FamZee account. Inside the app, parents can see their own location and the current locations of their mobile family members.

Inside FamZee.com, parents can see the location history of their family members, too. FamZee helps ensure the safety of your young child walking home from school, a teen that has begun dating or driving or even a grand-parent with reduced mobility.

FamZee offers GPS tracking for all your registered and connected family members. GPS information is pulled from each of the family member’s smartphones, and then transmitted to FamZee.com. FamZee allows the end users to choose how often they wish the smartphone to send GPS coordinates to FamZee.com.

If parents choose, they can set up their solution so their children cannot see their locations when they log into the app. It is the parent’s choice to configure the solution the way they like. Top

Does FamZee use the device GPS?

Yes, FamZee utilizes the device’s GPS radio to collect the locations for each user. Like all the features in FamZee, the GPS feature is flexible and NO parent is obligated to set it up. Like other GPS solutions, access to the satellites is impacted by the many items including (but not limited to) some of the following:

 

    1. Battery life: If a smartphone has NO battery life, then the GPS coordinates cannot be received or transmitted from the device.

 

    1. Device is turned off: If the smartphone has been turned off, then the GPS coordinates cannot be received or transmitted.

 

    1. Concrete structures: If an individual has brought their smartphone into a basement or a fortified building, it will be very difficult for the GPS coordinates to be received and transmitted. Top

 

Will FamZee use up my mobile device battery faster?

In order for the FamZee app to provide you with cost savings, device control and safety benefits, it needs to operate in the background at all times. As such, it is normal to expect that you will start getting a reduction in battery life. Many things can contribute to a “normal” battery life, including your usage profile, charging patterns and age of the battery. If you find that FamZee is having too much of an impact on your battery you can turn “power save” mode to on. This will help you conserve your battery life but will cause FamZee to provide delayed alerts and less accurate locations. You may also find that locking the phone during school hours may even increase battery life. Top

What happens if I forget my password?

In the event you have forgotten the password for your FamZee account, please visit FamZee.com and enter your email address. Then, click on “forgot password.” FamZee will generate an automatic email, allowing you to create a new password. Be sure to create a secure document with your passwords to prevent forgetting it in the future. Top

How do I get the FamZee app on my smartphone?

FamZee is currently available for Android and iOS based devices. When you setup a user in FamZee there will be instructions on how to get the app installed on each device. If you would like to expedite the process, you can simply search for FamZee on iTunes and Google Play. Top

What if I changed my mobile number or the mobile number of one of my family members or email address after setting up FamZee?

FamZee allows you to change/update any user’s information. To change the information of one of your family members: Go to “Edit User”, inside your FamZee user account. Change the information and make sure to save all of your changes/updates. If you changed phones, make sure to erase the original app on your smartphone and download the new app immediately. If it is the parent’s information that needs to be changed: Go to the “Admin” screen to update your information on FamZee.com. When you are done making changes, make sure to click “Apply.” Top

How secure is FamZee?

At FamZee, our mission is to keep you and your family safe and sound. We accomplish this by making sure your account information is only accessible by the account owner and its family members. Only the administrator can edit the account and the user profiles. If your mobile device does not have a safety code on already, please make sure to activate it to optimize your safety screen.

In addition, FamZee is certified as a McAfee Secure solution. The McAfee Secure certification means our solution and our website is scanned daily to locate and remove hacker vulnerabilities. This is meant to proactively manage any potential security issues and resolve them immediately. People still have fears associated with shopping online or accessing online accounts, and McAfee Secure works continuously to ensure your experience is optimal. It is our priority to ensure your information is completely secure and protected, all the time. Please use your common sense and do not share your passwords with people or leave your FamZee account open when you are not near your computer. Top

How accurate are locations in FamZee?

The location information provided by the FamZee location technology is generally capable of estimating locations within a couple of hundred meters. The precision of your location is affected by multiple factors such as GPS accuracy, hardware technology, device settings, environmental conditions, etc.

There should be an expected delay when trying to locate a user, to allow the server to connect to the GPS radio. Top

What is the FZ icon on my smartphone’s home screen?

The FZ icon is a visual queue for the FamZee app. It changes from green to red, as you use up your usage allowance. The icon resets according to your monthly allowance date (which can be set to match your carrier billing cycle). This means that if your billing cycle begins the 3rd of every month, the icon will reset back to green on the 3rd of every month. Once you’ve reached your usage allowance limit, the icon will change to red. Please note: This is not available on iOS. Top

Can I receive alerts for arrivals and departures from specific locations? Will I get notified if they haven’t arrived or if they haven’t left?

When creating and/or editing your user, go to “Set Locations.” You may choose which destination you’d like to set up first. For instance, to set up your child’s home location, click on the “+” for the “Home Location,” and then enter the address and the postal code for their home. Once the map pulls up your address, you can then click on the location and label it as you like, and save the address and the name of the location (ex: Billy`s School).

Then, as the administrator, you are allowed to determine what time each member should arrive/depart from your selected locations. For example, if your child starts school at 8 and finishes at 4 you can set those times for “School” every weekday. You will receive automatic notifications for when they arrive and when they leave school, allowing you to make sure your child is safe in school or that they are on their way home.

To “Set Time Periods,” go to edit user and click on “Set Time Periods.” You can then select the start and end time for each “Set Location,” and then decide whether those time periods are for week days, weekends or both. When you are done, please make sure you save your changes. Top

How do I sign into FamZee App from my smartphone?

Once you have completed setting up your FamZee account on FamZee.com and downloaded the application, we will send you your FamZee ID. If you cannot find your FamZee ID or did not receive one, you can request one when pressing on “Setup” and then on the “Click here to Sign up” button. This will send you to FamZee.com on your mobile device where you can resend the sign up message or simply copy and paste the FamZee ID found in the “Connect Device” page.

Can FamZee help us locate a lost phone?

In order for FamZee to locate your device, it must be turned on to receive and transmit a satellite signal. The Map inside the FamZee app or inside FamZee.com can help your family locate a lost/stolen smartphone. Top

What can we do if we cannot locate one of our family members?

If a phone cannot be located, it could mean 1 or 2 things: either the phone is turned off or that the phone is out of range and cannot be detected by our GPS tracker. Please make sure the FamZee application is active on all selected devices and that all selected devices are always charged. Top

How long does the Alert tab store the users’ alert history for?

The Alerts History Log remains in the system for 60 days. Top

How long will the Location History Report store each user’s locations?

FamZee stores the last 100 locations for each user. Top

How can I get FamZee?

To sign up for FamZee, please follow these easy steps:

 

    1. Make sure all of your devices are either Android or iPhones with the appropriate operating systems.

 

    1. Go the FamZee home page and sign up for free. Follow the Wizard Setup displayed on your dashboard to register new users. You can view our tutorial videos by clicking here.

 

    1. Download the application on each device. Enter your FamZee ID into the FamZee App to connect it to your account.

 

You are all set! You are now part of the FamZee family community. Top

Where do I go to log on to my FamZee Account online?

To access your FamZee Account, you can go to the FamZee website and log on with your primary email address and password. Please be sure to use the email address you use most frequently, so the notifications you receive will be read and addressed quickly. For easy access, you can set the link for FamZee.com as your computer’s Homepage or simply add it to your Favorites/Bookmarks.

First time users must register and follow the simple FamZee Wizard steps. Top

How do I set up Arrivals & Departures notifications?

Setting up times for arrivals and departures allows you to track if your child is where they are supposed to be at a given time. For example, if you set that school starts at 8:30 and you get a notification saying that your child has arrived at a destination, then you could go on with your day knowing that your child is safe in school.

Please ensure your child has the FamZee app already on their smartphone, and then follow these easy directions below:

1. Visit FamZee.com and log in to your user account.

2. Click on your specific user

3. Click on “Edit User.”

4. Click on “Set Time Periods”.

5. For each location, pick a “Start Time” and an “End Time.”

6. Choose a recurrence of each time set (All, Week Days or Weekends).

7. Go back and “Save.”

8. Now, go to “Set Alerts.”

9. Click on “Arrivals/Departures.”

10. Turn the setting ON.

11. Choose which events you would like to be notified about.

12. Click “Save.”

13. Repeat for the other users.

How do I add contacts to my Emergency List?

After logging into your FamZee user account, click on “Emergency.” You can then begin inviting people to your Emergency list, by clicking on the “+” and then entering their contact name on the left hand side (flashing orange section), and then entering their primary email address and their phone number. They will immediately receive an email invitation.

 

    • Once they “accept” the invitation, then their name will be highlighted in green.

 

    • If they have not yet accepted the invitation, there will be an hour glass next to their name showing them as “pending.” Please be sure to follow up with these contacts if days or weeks have gone by and they have not yet responded.

 

    • If they “decline” the invitation they will show up with a red X.
